Just thought I would post some pix of my telmatochromis fry. The parents are F1's so these guys would be F2's. This is a fish not often seen in the hobby. They come from Lake Tanganyika and are cave spawners.
I got them at an auction, the guy that sold them said he couldn't get them to spawn. Maybe they weren't old enough when he had them, because they just hatched their 3rd batch for me in less than 6 months. I am really excited about the good luck I am having with them.
This is the dad, he is about 4".
The 2 larger ones are a little over a half inch, the smaller one in the forground (out of focus) is from the second spawn, it is about 3/8"
This is the pot that they have been using as their "cave," you can see a couple fry on it. They kind of hug the bottom and any decorations they are investigating. Please pardon the tank, it is an old one that is kind of beat up and scratched. Not a show tank..... Red ramshorn snails..... ugh!
Another half incher.
Sorry about the focus on this one, as you can see, I am still trying to figure out the super macro focusing. You can see a smaller fry in the back. These are fish that allow the fry to stay around the nest even after new spawns are hatched. In this respect, they are similar to the daffodils (neolamprologus pulcher). Although, I have read that these guys will drive away fry that reach about 3/4". So, I may have to remove some, soon.
Finally got a shot of mom, she is very camera shy. That is her on the left.
OK, this is the last one, are you bored yet? Kind of like a grandparent showing pictures of his grandkids, eh?
John ;D
