I have managed 4 crabs in my tank now lol and walla. I have had small fights. Fights to crabs are healthy. Well LOL low and behold some one got extra feisty and my biges crab Mr. Crabs lost his claw and my newst my smallest Crab Nebula lost a leg. Now I gotta wait till they malt till they he gets his claw back that was a huge claw and the other gets his itty bitty leg back. That is crabs for you. Just though I would give you all a crabby update. Its funny watching them fight. I am glad they are enjoying the entertanment of each other and are keeping busy. I am glad they are healthy and well makes me happy. My fish skills are paying of in a traram type set up. I have sacseded again.

Crabs will definetly fight (and crawl out of the tank if your are not careful) The Mini Large Claw Crab do not seem to damage each other as much as the Red Carny Crabs do, but this is just an observation, not a fact. Glad you are enjoying your crabs! Carl

Oh yea these guys fight but its fun to watch. I do keep a good eye on them. I have a screen type top lid on it with a thing to life my lamp up so i wont set on the screen so my lamp is right over the tank. It is a 65 watt lamp with a 15 watt uvb bulb. I am looking for a better lamp most uvb lights I see are 75 watts is hard to find a bulb to work in my cramic and almuanam lamp. I would like to find a bulb better than 15 watts but not more than 65 or find a better heat lamp it self. I am also trying to find a night light for them so they will have what they need at night to. Any info would be great. I have been looking around and all the ones I can find are to powerfull for he heat lamp I have. I do love my crabs some day I want a larger tank a 20 gallon long if posable. My tank is coming around well I will post a link to some pics when I can get them taken it is set up nicely but I still wanna add more so they can climb even better and be even crabber. LOL they are so good at that. LOL they love pinching me hahaha dont hurt just funny they even try. I had my largest chassing me around the tank the other day when I was adding new things he kept trying to pinch me lol and chase and pinch and chase. LOL silly crab he thinks it hurts not hardly I can bearly feel it when they get to pinching me. I am ok as long as they do not bite cause I have been told now that does hurt I have seen there teeth so that I am worried about. LOL just pinch away but no bitty I tell them. Have a good night all.

Are you sure agression is a healthy sign? You wouldn't want them hurting each other too badly or killing each other.

Fights to crabs are healthy. Its funny watching them fight. Fire Hamster Do you have some documentation (web site or forum discussion) on the premise that fighting is healthy for crabs? I would be interested in reading why ripping off each other's legs and claws is good for them.

The reason why its healthy is for them to keep them active and keep them moving and in shape. Sure there are other ways to keep them active such as making rock structures for them to scale and sand for them to dig. But fighting is the ultimate reason why they they do the other things to keep them busy. It is so they can train them selves to clam domancy. If they can not clam domancy they become depressed. I at this time do not know of many web sites that say this or that. My husband has raised crabs since he was 10 and this is how he always has raised them. It does not matter what all is on the internet what matters the most is they are getting the care they need and that they are happy. They get enjoyment out of fighting. My crabs are deffinatly happy.

I'm confused.....you mean they can be crabby and happy at the same time! ;D glad you enjoy them - I alwys found them fascinating to watch while diving in the ocean - it was only a drag being around them when clamming - they'd "bite" your toes

Oh yea they bite. These guys have sure tried biting my fingers more than once. LOL and I have to pick them up to clean there tank. Ack LOL not only do they bite they pinch. LOL and they keep pinching over and over and over again. LOL OH yea a crabby crab is indeed a happy crab. LOL I an lucky I have almost been bit but not yet I am just a bit faster than them chomps. LOL I am sorry to hear you got your toes chomped on that would drive me nuts. Oh I would love to have some fresh clams. I have not had a clam in a long time. LOL you just made me wanna go shopping.

Why with a shotgun? And I hate to spoil everyone's appetite but don't crabs kind of resmeble spiders when you look at their eyes and body? (Yes, I am saying this on purpose, just teasing though)

LOL but mine are not edible never will be to small. LOL My hubby usta live in Alaska. He usta crab all the time lol he grew up crabbing and eating more crab than one can imagin. LOL I love crab. I also think in an odd way the lil tiny ones are cool looking lol. But that will not stop me from eating them tasty larger ones. LOL now I wish I had the money to go buy some crab legs. LOL I have not had any in a year. OH btw I think my crabs can defend them selves you try touching them they will definatly pinch and bite and ping and bite over and over again. LOL I know how to hold them with out the teeth lol so I have yet got chomped but boy have I ever gotten pinched. Fire Hamster
