Has anyone had a chance to try these guys out yet? I saw them at the lfs today. They had them last year and they were 12 bucks a piece, so I didn't get any. Now they are down to $4.99! I seriously want some of these guys! They are so tiny and cute!
The ones at the lfs are barely half an inch and don't have much color yet. I'm trying to figure out where I can put some of these goobs. If I move my platies back to the 30, I could put them in the 10 with the white clouds, but I also have Sally, my betta in there. Not too sure how she'd do with those little guys.
I'm just curious if anyone here has kept them yet.
btw, Carl, I did a google search of Celestial Pearl Danio, and your Fish As Pets blog was the 3rd result!

I have not kept these, I would love to try though as they are beautiful. I would guess that these fish have similar traits/temperament to other danios of similar size such as Zebra Danios Thanks for the nod to one one of my Fish as Pets articles. This one was basically a news post: Fish as Pets; Celestial Pearl DanioCarl

I can't decide what to do about these. I really want to get them, but I'd have to do some rearranging of my fish. The platies would have to go down to the 30 again. I don't want to put Sally the betta down there again, she is doing much better in the 10. So that'd be 6 White Clouds and Sally, and they recommend getting at least 6 of the CP Danios. 13 fish in the 10 gallon might be pushing it.

they are exquisitely beautiful! you would have to be very selective, I would think, who you put them with since they are so small - seems like they'd do well w/ either the platys or the white clouds - would definitely keep them in a community environment of non-aggressive fish, especially at that price!

Ok, I took the plunge and bought four of them! Right now they're just sitting in the bucket until I decide where to put them. Should I put them in the 5 gal QT with the cories that seem ok, or just put them in the 10 gallon after some acclimation in MB water...? hmmm... decisions!

I decided to put them in the 5 with the 2 cories and one female betta. This way I will be able to keep an eye on them easier than if they were in the 10. The cories have shown no weird symptoms for over a week, and the female betta has been fine.
The betta was chasing them around a bit for a while, but I think she's more curious about them than anything. She seems to be leaving them alone for now. If she is still bothering them tomorrow, I will move her to the 30. I may move her anyway now that I think about it...
I'll get pics as soon as I can! They're still a little shy.

CPD's are still doing well. They've started to color up a bit more. I was a little concerned about feeding these guys because their mouths are so small, but so far so good. Monday I just crushed up some flakes very well, and yesterday I decided to try some frozen bloodworms to see what they'd do. There were some nice smaller pieces that they were able to gobble up. They attacked some of the bigger pieces too, and just bit off what they could chew.

That sounds like my baby guppies. lol If I accidently put food in too big for them, they will attack ti and attempt to tear pieces off until it is gone. XD

I just moved my CPD's to the 10 gallon. The 5 didn't have enough plants for them, I don't think. It seemed like they could tell it was just a temporary thing and they were just kind of waiting around to move to their new place, lol. They weren't even as hard to net as I thought they would be! Sally is giving them their New-Guy initiation chase, but I think they'll be fine in there with her and the white clouds. They are so little, they make the White clouds look big!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get around here!
Sadly, most of my CPD's disappeared over time. I believe my female betta was the culprit. I've had one left for over a year now and I just love him. I plan on getting more before too long. Their color is just so pretty. He's been by himself with white clouds all this time. I think he's beginning to believe he's a white cloud. He hangs out with them all the time. It's so cute.
Anyway, I definitely recommend them if you're able to keep them either by themselves or with other smaller fish. I don't recommend keeping them with bettas, lol. That was not one of my brighter moves. My white clouds and CPD are in a 10 gallon with Red Cherry Shrimp and they all get along very nicely.

Hey babygeige. I know it's best not to keep any fish (other than something purely vegetarian like an Otto.) with neocaridina shrimp, but for my daughter's sake, I'm looking for fish that would not stop the shrimp population from growing all together. Do you think the CPD's would be OK? I've read online of some CPD's picking off the more juvenile shrimplettes (more bite sized)....
