cool article Thanks Eve! This article dates back about 1.5 years and was written much in response to a question at YA about silicone and aquarium repair in where several TCs were way off base such as a girl named Danielle. There was all sorts of mis-information and troll activity, thums down the usual YA cr@!. So I went ahead and put parts of my answer in article form, and I have added much to this article since then. I will add that I was tutored by Prestige Aquariums (Bill, who has since passed away) in aquarium repair and construction back in the early 1980s. His company made high quality aquariums distributed in the Western USA. Carl

Wow! Thank you so much for the video! Sorry I was late to this topic, I had school for 7 hours, then a doctor appointment for a horse bite that required ultrasound. Now I know how to fix that crack in my 5 gallon. Before when I first resealed it, I was applying globs of silicone and it ended up looking messy with a coating around the whole crack! Thanks, now I know how to fix it. I'll have to make sure silcione goes all the way to the end of the crack so it doesn't spread further.

also very clean job btw - a have a 20 hex that I need to redo - am thinking of cutting most of the old out 1st - hexes have enough tendencies to be illusional and depth perceptive challenges visually so smearing more doesn't seem to be a positive option - any thoughts?

Speaking of resealing, when I put silicone on my 40 gallon, I did the seams but some also ended up on the glass... I was in a hurry and with my shaky hands and not so good coordination, I kind of made a mess on the glass. I'm hoping it is ok with the sealanting part I did on the seams. I did it as my neighbor and Carl showed on that, but I might have I ran my finger over the sealant after I applied it too fast though. I also hope I did not apply it too thickly... That was why it needed resealing in the first place, when I bought it, the sealant was coming off. My neighbor said it was because whoever sealed the tank before applied the sealant too thickly.

Outstanding work Carl with voice instructions of what we are doing and why. I feel it's work like this that will seperate this site from others in terms of tools available and quality with them. Thank you very much for your time to put that togeather for us!
