Hello, Need help with the correct treatment plan,
I have Cherry Barbs an SAE & an Oto showing early signs of ICH.
I just did a 30% water change yesterday & a thorough gravel vac.
Yesterday right after water change I noticed one of the Cherry Barbs flashing on some rocks, no one had spots, today they show a few ich spots as does the Oto & SAE.
Today 1 Kuhli loach died suddenly-looked injured & no signs of Ich.
Is it safe to treat with Paragaurd since I have 4 Hillstream Loaches, 2 Kuhli loaches left and 1 Amano shrimp in the tank too, they do not show signs of Ich.
I am concerned about turning up the temperature for speeding up the Ich cycle because of the Hillstreams.
Parameters are;
45 gallon tank
Rena XP2 filter + bubble wall
74.5 F
Wondershell
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
NitrAte <20
KH 8
GH 300
PH 7.2
Stocking is;
5 cherry Barbs
1 SAE
1 Amano Shrimp
1 Otocinclus
4 Hillstream Loaches
2 Kuhli's
3 of the Hillstreams & 2 of the Kuhli's were new additions 3 weeks ago. within a day or 2 of adding the new loaches 1 hillstream died and an SAE I've had a few years died too.
The new hillstream I wasn't surprised he just wasn't acclimating/stressed but the SAE was a shock as he never looked ill.
The Kuhli that died today looked like he'd hurt himself not sick and he was fine yesterday...
So that's the story, now how do I treat the ICH without killing/stressing the loaches furthur?
I have a regular wondershell in tank now
I have a Medicated wondershell on hand and
Paragaurd as well as Nox-ich
Having just re-read your article on Ich treatments I think I will start tonight with 1/4 dose of Paragaurd to get something started.
Should I also use a MWS? Again The loaches are my biggest worry.
Thank you for any suggestions on what else to do,
Just when you think your tanks are looking good...
