This thread is intended for the help of an asker who has sick fish or fish showing signs of illness. If you happen to note any unusual behavior from your fish that you are not sure what it is, this is a good place to mention your observations. Bike and I will be happy to assist you in answering all your questions regarding this matter. We ask if possible that you try to provide the following:
1. What is your tank size in gallons? (Preferably in dimensions L X W X H if possible, but not necessary)
2. Have you checked your water chemistry? If yes can you list your readings? (Ammonia levels, Nitrite Levels, Nitrate Levels, PH and GH if you know it)
3. What is your water change routine? (weekly, bi weekly, monthly, 10% 20% 40%...)
4. What kind of fish is showing distress or illness? (some species of fish are more susceptible to certain afflictions then others, this might prove helpful if known what species of fish)
5. What kind of diet are you feeding your fish? (Flakes, live foods, feeder fish, other or combination?)
If there is anything listed that you do not know, please feel free to post anything you do know or anything not listed as well, that you feel is important. We will give our full effort to find what is wrong and what to do for you.
Many thanks,
Bike and Jon

did you want a new board Jon? Also what do others think of a Plant Board? I do not want too go board crazy though, as I have read (in SEO forums, blogs) that this can actually detract froma forum making things to hard to navigate and confusing, especially for newcomers or even moderators trying to answers questions but having to look arund too much. Plant board just might be a great thing Carl and good point! I SUCK at plants though. I know a couple of good people though. Bike and I figured splitting the threads into ID and Illness would probably help quick sort our posts.

What do you think of where I just adde another board for sick fish unders General Aquaria, I think it might be a better fit than under ID What do you think, if not, it could be moved to this category.

Maybe we could make the fish illness board under questions/concerns and then another board under questions/concerns that says "Other" for any other questions.
Then maybe we could make a board called "Identification" and then put our saltwater and freshwater boards under it. Then we could also make a plant identification under it. Just an idea.

I have another idea. Under the Updates and information board, we could move the Aquatic Updates there and then have another board called News/Notifications.

Well however we do this, I think our team goal here is being addressed. Our goal is just helping out. My view point and I'm not the law or final say LOL, just would be, this. I think trying to catagory group is what would help the most. I was thinking that making a main board header, of something like:
Main Catagory Title: "What is this" for questions on anything in your tank you are not sure what it is.
1. Sub selection catagory: "Sick fish, Illness, or Treatment questions" Need help finding what is wrong with a sick fish, what is afflicting your fish, or how to treat it? 2. Sub Selection Catagory: "Fish Identification" Picked up a fish you aren't confident is what it was sold as? Got a fish that didn't have a name? Unsure of a fish donated to you? etc...
Of course if there's other catagories that might fall under this, need to find out what is something you don't know, we could always add on later. I think Plants should just be it's own main selection point, and then sub catagories under it. This might be something to work on at a later time.
A. Carl is very busy and I'm not positive exactly how to lay out and create at this time. I do NOT want Carl overflooded with tasks to do on this forum. I'll take care of this for everyone, but might be a few weeks down the road.
B. At this time we don't have large volume messages or questions comming in under these catagories too. We might end up getting questions that need to be asked and posted in areas that would fall under what we are talking about here. This isn't a major flaw really since we can always regroup selections and just move threads in and out as needed.
I just wanted to throw that out as an option to consider, but whatever is decided to do, my advice or not is irrelivant. What is best for the board and our group is.
