I've been away too long! About 2 weeks ago Obama developed a dark bump on his chin, was listless, and was interested i food, but I think the bump hurt, so wasn't eatig. The parameters were normal, and his 3 tank buddies are doing fine, except Hilary's tail has a tattered edge. I'm doing w/c's every other day and increased their salt. I treated the entire shelter with General Cure food soak every other day for 7 days, then followed up with Focus for another 7. Obama still wasn't better, so I transfered him to a 50 galon and treated the water with Furan-2 for 2 days, but he seemed to dislike this, so I backed off and let him rest with only water changes. Last night I treated with Mela-fix and he suddenly became distressed ad clamped his right gil shut. I added more water to dilute the Melafix and he settled down and unclamped. Tonight I only did a w/c. Any suggestions? This video is from yesterday, when I added the melafix. His belly has always been dark, after a runin with a siphon when he was 1" long 4 years ago. ObamaI will go get an update on video, and post it for you right away. Thanks!!! This is him this morning. Obama todayphotos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPoNgyWFZQbjP_ZX-O2clBroImLcdlRqatRLrDS

Minerals should have always everyday be used for the life of the fish. Not just medicated ones. You want to be using the regular shells always. Especially for these brackish puffer.
What are you doing to make your brackish water?

What are you doing to make your brackish water? Yes, these (Regular AAP Wonder Shells) along with using a good marine salt is essential for long term health. Results are not measured in the short term, rather the long term. Resources: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/BulkSeaSaltFerts.htmlwww.americanaquariumproducts.com/MedicatedWonderShell.htmlMy long term studies outlined in my "Aquarium Disease Prevention" article prove this point. Even then, following every point will not guarantee success, just as much as ignoring many of the points will not guarantee failure, but the long term statistics show better success Please Read: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Disease.htmlAs far as your order, it came in after normal USPS pickup and was economy (where we pay all shipping and ship the most cost efficient way). HOWEVER, since you are a friend I paid double & packed it for Priority Mail and then bicycled down to the local post office (I do not usually drive to lower my bills). For this reason you should have this package by Saturday instead of Tuesday or Wednesday Carl

What are you doing to make your brackish water? Thanks Devon! The meds arrived today! I've used medicated wonder shells before with the puffs, with no ill effects. I was going to use them on the big tanks, and use the spectrum on Obama. I got large size..not sure how much i should use on Obama's hospital tank. The water level is at 40 gallons to make the meds last the duration, but the amonia levels jumped to forest green yesterday. I'm doing 75% w/c 1/2 conditioned tap water, 1/2 tank water from his home tank. I'm going to put some media together in a bigger filter and hope that helps keep it from spikeing, and continue w/c as needed. What do you think?

I'm about to dose Obamas water with spectrum. Is it ok to add a little wonder shell to this? Not sure how much to shave off a size large for 40 gallons. YOURE THE BEST!

YIKES! I got a problem. I think the meds are mixed up. There are 2 or 3 capsules with brown colored powder, in one of the plastic tubes!

The picture looks normal from my long time use of the product. It is noteworthy that nitrofurazone (an ingredient of AAP Spectrogram) can be different colors depending upon water and oxygen exposure

Also, I would not waste the product, make sure to use it as per directions (it can safely doubled in dosage)
