I told my next door neighbor I would take care of his daughters goldfish at my house while they were on vacation because they don’t use a heater and they are going to turn there heat way down. It’s just a 10 gal. so I told him to drain it down 1/2 or 3/4 and bring it over. His wife didn’t want to bring it over dirty so she rinsed the gravel in tap water and put in new media. Now I’ve got a ticking time bomb of Amonia. I put in stability and stress guard along with the prime. I don’t have any extra foam filters right now or I’d put one in. Any other ideas, maybe sand from another tank and just put it in a bowl on the bottom? There’s just two fish, both about 2”-2 1/2” but one is twice as big around. I’ve never had goldfish so any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Thanks for the links, I think I will put some sand in there and keep an eye on the Amonia for now. If I had the algone I would try it but by the time I could get it here they will be back probably. Thanks again, Mark

Well, the goldfish made I home today with no problems and they grew a little while they were here. I ended up putting some filter media in a bag next to the filter intake. I was going to put matrix I’m my 10 gal Betta tank so I took half the media out for the goldfish. .
