SeaChem has stated that Prime will make your water safe but test solutions will cause Prime to release Ammonia, NO2, and NO3 in your test, giving a false reading. How do we know if our Tap water is safe if this happens and we get a false reading? Is there a test kit that will not cause this to happen with Prime or is there another water conditioner that won't do this?
I tested aged tap water this morning treated with Prime. Ammonia 1 ppm, NO2 2.0 ppm, NO3 5 ppm I used both API and SeaChem test kits.

It's a ammonium reading your getting, if I understand what your asking. So, you would just have to know your reading ammonium. Ammonia Alert just reads ammonia unlike the liquid test, so there would be a 0ppm reading. That's one way around it.
