Hi folks, Need a little help & can't seem to find info anywhere. I have a 10 gallon planted tank which houses 4 ADFs. I'm sitting here with wonder shell in hand but can't find out if they might harm the froggies? ? I always use wonder shells in my other tanks, but this is my first frog venture. Also, I've read that using Seachem Flourish Excel could hurt the frogs. I don't have a CO2 unit & this is a small low light tank so I'm thinking the frogs will provide enough fertilizer & I'll be ok without added CO2. Any advice is appreciated!

SeaChem does not recommend the use of Excel, but they also admit to not testing..
For a basic low light planted aquarium, not as much CO2 (bio available carbon) is needed. As long as you do not drive off the CO2 with high surface agitation and as long as enough CO2 via normal bio processes, you should have adequate bio available carbon.

Thanks Carl! Not so worried about the co2. Will wonder shells harm the African Dwarf frogs? I just received them (shells) from you. Will they be helpful in this tank? Will they be safe for frogs? If safe, what dose for 10 gallon? thanks again

how much is safe to dose a 10 gallon planted tank with dwarf frogs & 2 zebra danio - will not be using ferts or any co2 booster, etc. substrate is eco complete. clean up crew at this time are several ghost shrimp, a mystery snail and a black racer nerite snail if he's alive in there somewhere. plants: red flame sword, hairgrass, java moss, marimo balls, anubias nana, banana plants, monte carlo

still here - hoping for an answer regarding amount of wonder shell to put in my 10 gallon adf planted tank. The only info I've found says "1/4 a dose" but I have no idea how much that is....... OR is wonder shell not yet necessary - the tank is newly set up (1 month) heavily planted, eco- complete substrate

For a planted tank, I would use just one small Wonder Shell. Possible move up to 2 if GH stays in parameters you are aiming at BTW, sorry for the slow response, but my long crazy days, family obligations and need to work elsewhere to supplement my income, usually make it difficult to be on EA much after 4-5 pm Carl

no problems here Carl - i'm having to work 2 jobs to pay the bills & getting way too old for it! I was so excited to get this planted/frog tank going - I ordered & received my wonder shells & then realized I should've posted first.....duh I had no idea ADFs are so sensitive - Really enjoying them, the tank sits beside my bed & really aids in my sleeping difficulties

Was this posted at 3am? I don't think anyone will answer at that hour. Carl gave good advice.
