I am setting up a 4 gallon tank to raise Brine Shrimp to feed. There is a lot of different info on how to do this so I want to ask the right people for the right answers. I would also like to raise Nerite snails and need salt water info on them too.
I have Instant ocean salt, salinity meter. What else do I need? I found on Youtube that brine shrimp do great with a salinity of 1.024

I would honestly raise each of these differently. The Nirite snails I would raise in a normal marine aquarium using the Instant Ocean, along with a good buffering maintenance program such as SeaChem Reef Builder: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Seachem.html#calciumFurther Reading: www.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2016/02/reef-chemistry-maintenance.htmlHowever for brine shrimp, and do not have the answer why, these have done much better and this method is actually cheaper to use just plain sodium chloride rock salt along with epsom salt and change out this water twice per week. The ration is 5 to 1 sodium chloride rock salt to Epson salt to a specific gravity of 1.025. This is what I was taught early on by others (about 1977). Interestingly later on in the 80s, I thought to myself I could do this better and use my best marine mix mixed with RO water. You know what, the others were right, this time tested mehtod worked best for brine shrimp rearing Good and VERY strong aeration is a must for brine shrimp too Carl
