I have a question for Carl. Have you ever considered carrying Fritz Turbo start 7? Or would it not be financially productive for you due to the shipping costs? The last couple times that I medicated my tank, I blew out my bio filter due to the fact that it runs low because of my heavily planted tank. Then the biofilter and plants battle it out while the plants are healing and re-photosynthesyzing. It took me a full 6 weeks to re-cycle the last time. During that time of ammonia spiking, I use Prime & Stability everyday and water changes every other day. Due to the fact that I use a combination of spring waters for my tank, it costs me a fortune. It would actually be cheeper for me to pay for the refrigerated shipping of the Turbo start. None of my LFS carry the Turbo start, just the regular. I have read that Turbo start should cycle it within days. Would be worth it to me.

Fritz Turbo Start is only a more concentrated version of Fritzyme #7 Resource: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/FritzMardelKordon.html#fritz7Turbo Start is not available via stores, only directly from Fritz I actually prefer Stability (if a a cycling aid is needed) based on test performed by associates. Otherwise I prefer the seeded media method Resource: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Seachem.html#stabilityFurther Information from our Nitrogen Cycle article: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Nitrogen_Cycle.html#productsQUOTE from article: My recommendation in the past as it pertains to Stability & the other similar products is to use it as an aid in cycling of new aquariums or (better) as a boost when the bio load of an aquarium suddenly “jumps’ for whatever reason, NOT a primary way to cycle your aquarium. HOWEVER, a new study that AAP has sponsored, had results with a controlled test where Stability beat even Fritz-Zyme in results, something even I did not expect, but this is where a SCIENCE BASED EXPERIMENT TRUMPS OBSERVATION EVERY TIME!
Here is a link to this study, please note that the data records are very well documented and there is no fudging of data as well as is so common today's politically and corporately driven science! Experiment 1- Cycle Aids: Fritz vs. SeaChemCarl

Thanks Carl. I have used Stability for years. I have read your comparison test article on Stabilty & Fritz. For some reason, it use to work faster for me in the past, than it has the last couple times I used it. I only used it during/after med treatment. The last two times I treated with Paragaurd/Sulfa it blew out my bio system, which you told me was probably because of my heavily planted tank. I can see that, my Anubias plants are huge and suction cupped to the side glass. The root system is enormous and in the water column, not the gravel. So, I can see where those roots absorb a lot of the nutrients the the bio filter would normally take in. I know my sponges have "some" bacteria in them, because I have used them to seed other filters before. But apparently not enough to withstand the Paragaurd/sulfa combination. But both times it took my biosystem the full 6 weeks to recycle. Even with the use of Stability. Maybe because it was battling for nutrients with the plants. Both times it happened, my quarantine tank was not up and running, so I did not have a seeded filter to borrow from. What a pain. So expensive for me because I use spring water, and had to buy 10 gallons every other day for six weeks until the ammonia was gone. Along with using Prime & Stabiity. I know Fritz states their refrigerated "Turbo start 7"cycles instantly. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. I have never used their regular formula before. I just thought maybe that this refrigerated formula would speed it up and be cheaper for me if it ever happens again. I have more bacteria media components in my quarantine now,(like Matrix), in my HOB filter along with the sponge, & your bubble sponge. Hopefully next time I can borrow from there.

Thanks for the info Richard. My well water is not bad, just extremely acidic. In the low 5's. I will have to look further into those systems.
