Ahh, mom's a bronze cory. I have 6 of those, one Emerald, & one yellow guy that is maybe a "green" cory. Even though he is really a strange yellow.

There is a lot of tanis in the water. When the water is clear she has a shinny emerald green and a very white underneath. I bought her at Petsmart as a Emerald but she also looks like a green cory. Thats like the 3 Julii I bought turned out to be false julii. I did buy two real Julii cory's and you can see a clear difference in the face and the line on their side. I will go back to the City and get another one till I have Male & female to breed. At $25.00 a fish it can get expensive. This is what I did with the African Leaf fish. You can't tell the sex until they are older.

True Emeralds, I believe, have a larger dorsal fin. 10-12 rays. And they are much bigger. Where as the Bronze or Green corys have 6-8 rays I believe. If you see a pic of both side by side there is a big difference. Even though the Bronze corys have a green sheen, the Emerald is much more so. Pet stores always sell Bronze Corys as Emeralds. I have been looking for more "true" Emeralds for quite some time. I have one that lost his/her two buddies, and is now the only Emerald in the tank with the bronze corys. My local Petsmart does carry them, but they seem to buy from a bad source. 2/3 of the corys I buy from them get sick in quarantine. I seem to have better luck with Petco's corys. Even though they haven't had "true" Emeralds for quite a while.

Also if you see any errors, please let me/us know too www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Catfish.htmlCarl
