I have spent the last 3 hours reading about REDOX and Carbon. I did the test with Methylene Blue and wonder Shell shavings. My tank passed the test and is probably healthy but I still am going to get the www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquariumtestkit.html#redox because I just have to know plus I will be able to use it in the Aquarium Club down the road. Thanks Carl and Devon for your prayers for Brenda.... Richard PS. I had removed the plants last week from the 75 and held them in the 37 until I had everything clean. After a few days I saw that the green slime algae had started to grow on the glass of the 37 gal. I didn't really worry about it but today it was all gone.... It has not come back in the 75 at this point but will keep a eye on the slime in the future. I went ahead a purchased plants from one of your suggested sellers in the article about plants (aquarium plants.com) I found their prices very reasonable even with the 2 day shipping. I ended up getting 10 more plants for the 75 mostly Anubias I didn't have. They where out of stock on some I want so will be going back for more. Sorry for the long Post Script....

Richard, I have ordered from them many times. They carry many different varieties that you can't find in the LFS. I like to have a variety of colors and textures in my plants. They are always getting new stuff in too, so make sure you occasionally check back with them.

How often does the meter need to be cleaned? We'd just rinsed it in tap water and wipe off the probe after each use. We played with different ways to clean it and simple seemed the best.

I have had this 5 gallon Fuval Chi tank that only holds 4.5 gallons of water set up for about 2 or 3 weeks. I broke down and went to Petsmart for a Beta fish that has now been named "JimmyCarter"... go figure He's all puff and fluff when he sees his reflection in the glass. Richard

Interesting platinum/aqua betta!
The Fluval Chi tank looks to be a perfect tank for a Betta!
I am not familiar with this tank, does it come with a filter?
Regards; Carl

I wish male Betta's would play nice with other male Betta's. I have Rafael in a 10 gallon, with a couple of otto cats & a baby BN pleco. I see so many pretty Betta's in different colors the LFS, and I think wouldn't it be nice if they could just hang out and be buddies. I would have a couple of them in different colors. But noooooooo, they gotta be all "macho" and beat the crap out of each other.

Interesting platinum/aqua betta! The Fluval Chi tank looks to be a perfect tank for a Betta! I am not familiar with this tank, does it come with a filter? Regards; Carl It's a nice little tank but the filter is not very good, "it's hard to get the pump primed when it sits above the water line, you have to tilt it to the side to work the air bubbles out" and the light is way to low for low light plants. I had to remove the filter because it was just moving the water too much for JimmyCarter. I would not recommend the Fuval Chi for a Beta, but Shrimp... Neon Tetras or something that will stay small. Fuval warns not to move the tank around with water. I see that the outside glass all around is not sitting on top of bottom glass plate. This does make the tank weaker in my opinion. I have read reviews where people complain that the tank leaks after they carried it with water. At the price of this fuval you can buy a better built, better quality rimless tank for less money but then you would have to add a light and a filter if you wanted live plants. I did take the rocks out today and put in real fine sand. I think Jimmy Carter likes the sand much better. I did this because the food would slide over and under the rocks where he couldn't get to it. Richard

I am at a loss as to the Seachem fert dosing. I have 14 Anubis plants, 4 Java lace plants, 2 Lily plants, 2 Blyxia auberti, Pellia and 2 jumbo banana plants. I just added 11 plants from aquariumplants.com and don't want to over dose or under dose. I think my plants out weight the fish now but do need advice...
I backed off to;5.5 g Flourish every 3 days, 6.5g Excel every day, CO2 injected 1 bps prior to getting more plants. My tank is a 75 gallon but only has 65 gallons of water after driftwood and substrate.

Richard, the lift tube comes with the sponge. Fusion makes a good, quiet, strong air pump. ....When you get the chance, post a pic of your new plants!

Very nice. Your Tigers look good too! I haven't had a banana plant in quite some time. What did you attach to the driftwood in that third pic? ..PS ..I like your "T-cup Anubias"

What did you attach to the driftwood in that third pic? ..PS ..I like your "T-cup Anubias" Attached to the driftwood via hair net is Pellia Monosolenium Tenerum. Thanks for the advice on the Fusion... I have the 700 and I can't hear it at all. It was so odd to not have something coming in from AAP that I just had to order some more. Hydro sponge #1 for JimmyCarter in the Fuval and Hydro Sponge #3 for the 37 gal and another Fusion 700 to run them and the water making station I am about to build in my little corner we now call the Fish corner. I use air to stir the water in 5 gallon jugs when I add buffers, replenish and wonder shells. I am looking at a 30 gallon rain barrel, because it's decretive, to use as a holding container for mixing water. Right now I am using a 50/50 mix of RO and Tap plus Seachem Replenish, Wonder shells. Water mix is; KH 143.2 ppm GH 268.5 ppm Ca+ 100 ppm PH 7.4 Richard

Let me know how the Pellia Mono works for you. Mine didn't do to well. Course, I believe I had medicated the tank right after I received it, and the plant did not seem to like it at all. It just turned brown and died. I also don't have the bright lights you do either. Mine are just cheap LED's, which do fine for low-med light plants, but not high light.
