Carl/Devon I'm getting ready to tear down my 120 gallon and prepare it for African Frogs. While I was going to simply do a Vecton for sterilization, your Ozone Generator caught my eye. Being the admitted gadget guy I am, I thought I'd ask about it. I've never used Ozone in a freshwater setting. I was reading the following article to begin to educate myself: www.tfhmagazine.com/freshwater/feature-articles/ozone-vs-ultraviolet-comparing-two-common-sterilization-techniques-full-article.htmMike P.s. if you want me to lose my mind, paint the next SunSun Canister filter I buy from you in a Star Wars theme. The commercialization of that movie is over the top.

Ozonizers are really meant for just Marine aquariums where they work best with Protein skimmers. In fact , an ozone generator improve protein refraction thus making the protein skimmer more effective for removal of organics too. Unfortunately for freshwater use, protein refraction does not really work and this also allows for more ozone to escape into the main aquarium. The other issue with Ozone use is it brings up the Redox and maintains an undesirably high Redox balance, which is great for short term issues such as high amounts of DOC, but no long term use See also this article: www.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2008/01/aquarium-protein-skimmers.html#ozoneCarl

Thanks Carl. That being said, I'll just stick with another Vecton...with a SunSun not painted to look like R2D2 Mike

I really like the movies, I find them a nice escape from the real world, whoever the hype is rather extreme. I have yet to see this new one, but plan to on my wife's birthday Tuesday Carl

Yes, I will go see it. I enjoy them too but am slightly put off by the amount of commercialization surrounding the movie. Guess it is a sign of times. I've had my eyes, ears and mouth covered until I've had a chance to see the movie...... Mike
