The CO2 boost is the last thing to try to rid myself of the hair algae. I've pulled out all I can, and now am hoping the other plants will start growing and using up the nutrients instead of that stuff.
I don't have any algae on the glass, just this hair stuff that looks horrible and sticks to everything. The CO2 boost is to give the other plants a bit of a kick start as well, since they are continually suffocated by this stuff. From what I've read, it's from a nutrient rich tank with CO2 imbalance. I got all the fishie bodies out, so I'll give it a month and see where it's at.
Allegedly, mollies will eat it. That's a bald face lie. I went a week without feeding them and never saw them nibble on it.
As far as the disinfectant, for use, it is diluted 500:1. I may have had some residue on my hands when feeding, but it was a tiny amount that made it into the aquarium. It's the only thing that was changed. No wonder the EPA doesn't like it being sold in the US.

A little update... The aquariums are now just plants. I cleaned the floor with this stuff, it's great at making a house smell "hospital sterile fresh", but even though it wasn't as an aerosol, I managed to nuke my fish... So, if you are going to use biguanide disinfectants, heed the warning that it kills fish, and not just a "impedes bio filter" way. Took 3 days to go from uncountable swimming Molly's and Tetras to easily countable to none within a week. Sorry about that Troy. I've never used this(or had a client that I know of), but I have had many customer used oil based paints, varnishes, etc around tanks only to see their fish "disappear" Carl

Troy, a true SAE will gobble up that hair algae. They love it. Some of it grows on my upper Anubias leaves at the surface where they can't get to. I will pull it off and drop it over them, and they will charge up and grab it to gobble it up. Make sure it is a "true" SAE though.
