My local pet shop got a lot of panda loaches in. They were stripy and beautiful, and on impulse, I bought three. One, sadly, did not make it through the next day - and when I went back to the pet shop to exchange him, I ended up just buying the rest. So now I have 8 little baby panda loaches. One is just beginning to lose his baby markings, and the rest are still boldly striped. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of information out there - they are relatively new to the aquarium trade - but I did piece together that they are river dwellers that like a current, they eat algae (and basically anything else they get their little mouths on), benefit from a veggie heavy diet, and like temperatures in the low to mid 70's. With that in mind, I put together a 10 gallon with rinsed sand at the bottom, covered by river rocks, a single piece of driftwood, and a few plants that I thought could handle the current. I added a seasoned sponge filter and a water pump to generate flow, but the water pump is out for now - their are so tiny, they could get sucked right in through the intake and there was no good way for me to protect them. I'm thinking of getting an HOB filter instead, since it's quite easy to put a sponge over the intake, and a decent one can still provide quite a bit of current. Here's the habitat so far. Thoughts? I think you have done a great job in preparing an aquarium habitat for these loaches! Beautiful/cute fish too! Since these are very delicate fish, I think your filtration choice is wise. Be mindful of diseases such as Ich, as loaches can be magnet for Ich Carl
