Welcome to EA! Though I am sorry about the loss of your goldfish My suggestion is another goldfish or two if there is room for two more. I have noticed with many fish they will do better in groups, often even three or more. This holds true for goldfish from my experience. Carl

Welcome Sorry about the Goldfish The thing I would get concerned about if he loses his apatite. I would try new tank mates as well.

Thank you both for your responding to my post! My lone fish was still eating but otherwise inactive. I did decide to add additional fish. Based on Carl's comment and the advice of a local/independent fish guy, I added two little Sarasa Comets to my 75 gallon tank. My big Sarasa Comet immediately swam to the new fish and then started rooting in the gravel, even though I had not added food to the tank. Everyone is acting "normal" and getting along. Thank you again!

You would consider trying to boost immunity for the fish, while new tank mates come in. Things like garlic food, Spirulina, reg water changes, added calcium carbonate.
I just don't know if it's stress or illness making the fish less active, so keeping immunity up will keep it from getting sick, especially during times of high stress, such as adding new fish.
