I just read something interesting in the October 2013 TFH magazine (page 19 from the Cichlid World column's "The Many Flavors of Cichlids" by Eric Hanneman) that says that the Julidochomises eat sponges, and that "in the lake, (he) often saw them living next to sponges as if they were farmers guarding their crops." I wonder if the sponges found there are anything like marine sponges...ie: could the frozen (marine) sponge "formulas" be substituted for the "lake sponges" to be fed as a treat for Julies ....

Wonder if there is a way to get freshwater sponges (like we do fish) so you can "grow your own"? {Thinking about Julies here.}

These sponges are found in some lakes too, so as long as you do not break any regulations, maybe this can be a source. Carl
