Hi! Recently lucked into a 29 gal tank that was already established for 4 yrs. It came with a lone Hillstream loach (Gastromyzon ctenocephalus) already in residence for a year. I would like to get a few other Hillstream loaches to keep him company and want to know what easy adjustments I should consider doing to the tank to improve his living conditions. Questions: do I add a bubble wall? small Power head? or? What other tank mates might be good? Would a couple SAE help with the BBA?
Tank currently: 29 gal 2 hob filters Aqua-Techs 20-40 and 30-60 Ecocomplete substrate with light planting of java fern, java sword, small leafed anubias (which is being taken over by what appears to be Black brush algae) T5 high out put light (4 24 watt bulbs) driftwood rounded rocks/stones 1 small airstone 76 degrees PH 7.0 NitrAte 5.0 small wonder shell (I added for first time so can increase) nitrite 0 ammonia 0 1 Hillstream loach 5 Amano shrimp 6 Cherry barbs 5 Cardinal tetras 7 Otocinclus 1 nerite snail 1 lambchop raspbora 1 choc kuhli loach 5/20-I moved the tank from previous owners keeping everything intact & carting 20 gals of existing tank water. The only things I've added are 6 of my otos from other tanks, 1 nerite snail and a small wonder shell. Also used stressguard and Pimafix first 5 days. Everyone seems healthy and happy so ready to pick up a few more Hillstreams
All thoughts & advice welcome!
