I've only got a second or two, but i saw a youtube video you might like...
I was trying to get some more specific info on the Trachelyopterus striatulus, which iscalled the singing catfish. I thought maybe it was a misspelling and there should maybe have been a "T" in there, or something. Fishbase is really the only place that had anything I could find, so I finally entered "where did the common name singing catfish for (T. s.) come from?" into the searchbar (I use firefox and it goes to Bing). The 1st thing that came up was "videos of singing catfish", "Bing.com videos", and the 1st one was "REAL Singing Catfish!!!" (18 seconds long). [Most everything else had to do with such as Singing Billy Bass.] I don't know that that's the same species of catfish (?-probably not) that I'm looking for, but it's interesting anyway.

Never heard them sing before! Certainly have heard them grunt, croak, and even warble like a frog...

Personally I think it is a hoax, but who knows!
