UPDATE: So last night i bought the Omega betta food, and i just fed it to him. Im still not that happy, in the sence of..he didnt like goble it up. It keeps putting it in his mouth (thats more than he'd do for the pellets) but even with small flakes he will spit them out. The first flake i think he swallowed.
Its not like i need him to eat a ton of food..its just annoying cause id like to be able to know my fish is eating well and getting the nutrients it needs..not only swallowing 1 out of 10 flakes. Who knows though maybe in the coming weeks it will get more aclimmated with the food.

The omega should be working. If your fish is sick or the water qualioty is poor, it may contribute to the fish notw anting to eat. What are your levels?
Also, how big was the flake you gave your betta? My bettas prefer their flakes small. also, if he at least ate one, that's a start. I'm not taotlly sure on this but I have a feeling it may be more than the betta being finicky.
As well as water parameters, do you have a heater, bubbler, and/or filter for your betta? Also, is she showing any signs of stress or acting strangely?
Hope that helps and we can figure out what's going on.
Renee

Not sure the levels yet but the tank is a 5 gal that iv had running (with heated and filtration) for over a year now. So its deffinitly cycled..and its been running empty for a few months ..but il get the levels soon. It was...about the size of a dime. If a betta will eat completely crumbled flakes than il do that (cant really spit out crumbled flakes) but i guess i have assumed that a betta wants a flake bigger than completely crumbled (unlike tetras that will eat the smallest of specs of food)

At least for my bettas, smaller flakes seem to grab their attention more. When it is bigger, it just floats in the water for a little while. Then they decide to investigate it and eventaully eat it. I'm not sure why my bettas at least don't like larger flakes as much. Maybe it looks like a plant floating in the water to them. Also, don't crumble them too much or your betta will have to look around for all the pieces. Just break the flake in half. Good luck.

I feed my bettas BettaMin flakes by Tetra. It is a red flake that comes in a small, yellow plastic can. I have never had a betta refuse it since I started feeding it years ago. Even if they had been getting pellets in the store (I always ask what they have been feeding).
It has 48% protein (bettas need high protein) and I even crumble it up real fine for all my fry in addition to Hikari first bites and BBS. Bettas are carnivores in the wild and eat insect larvae and small bugs that fall into the water.
Once or twice a week I give my betta/s treats of blood worms and adult brine shrimp, both frozen (but thawed in a cup of tank water before giving to them).
If you get desperate, toss in a couple guppy fry, they love them. That will get him eating for sure.

Nate...have you tried Live food for him? If I have a betta that won't eat..I feel live Grindals. I have already suggested live worms that are gut loaded, in the VERY rare occasions that I have had Bettas refuse premium prepared dry Betta foods, this has always succeeded with long Betta lifespans and good health. Nate said he did not want to deal with live worms. Vitamin, mineral, & spirulina slurry soaked FD worms has always succeeded as well, although I did not see quite as good of vitality as with the gut loaded live or the premium prepared foods. Carl

Oops...sorry. I missed that. please do not take this as a reprimand, I only pointed this out because this thread has been going in circles with the same tips/questions repeated many times. It is know up to Nate to try and decide which method (or methods) to utilize. Carl

nathan, i fed my betta the same thing as 8 does, thats all he would eat other then a fd blood worm. but the tetra betta flakes was his primary food and he would eat all of it, that is until I killed him..

My only concern with this whole thread is that often fish or many animals for that matter will often eat what has the strongest "attraction" not necessarily the best nutritional value (try offering dog both cat and dog food and see what he goes for; 9 times out of 10 it will be the cat food which IS NOT as good for him) My point is that I often have gotten stubborn Bettas to eat bloodworms, black worms or prepared foods with flavor enhancers, but this is not best for long term health. That is why I so STRONGLY recommend gut loading live foods or "soaking" FD foods and in the case of foods such as Tetra Brands (which usually have strong attractants) to never make them the main diet or sole diet. I've got over 20 bettas here that are adult and more that are juvies. I feed them the Omega that was mentioned earlier and they love it. I feed them the stuff out of the yellow can that's red and they love it. I feed them froz blood worm, they love that. They get froz cyclops, glass worms, brine shrimp, brine shrimp with spirolina, they love it all. I've had finiky (sp) eaters in the past and each time I just keep giving them the flake food (their least fav of all that they love) until they eat it and eventually they do, least each one I've ever had will. Mine too like them crushed to smaller mouth sized pieces.
So basically I just re-affirmed what everyone else above just said:)
