I just checked my water parameters and in the 55G: the Nitrite read about 1 1/2 ppm; it's hard to read the Ammonia Alert because it looks like the color is between the yellow and the light green. No signs of stress in the fish. Normally my Nitrites are zero, but in the tap water it runs around 1 ppm, so if I do a larger water change it will affect the tank's reading for a short while, but by the next day's testing it will be back down to zero, but again, the water change was 2 days ago--> I did an 11 gallon water change the day before yesterday since I had done a partial gravel change-out the day before that and I wanted to vacuum out the excess "dust" that had settled. When I used the Quick Vac to do that, it just stirs it up again. Since I was concentrating on the fact that the lights were no longer working, I only tested for pH and KH yesterday, and didn't even think to look at the Ammonia Alert.
Today after testing, I added a full tank's dose of Amquel Plus. I want to add some Stability, but I read somewhere about waiting for a certain amount of time before doing so, but I can't remember where it was located (I'm pretty sure it was in one of Carl's articles) or how long. Does anyone recall what the "wait-time" was? I'm going to wait until later to add it, but in the meantime, I unplugged the UV so I wouldn't forget to do it when I put the Stability in later. Hope I don't forget to plug it back in!
Thanks!

Thanks! The only thing I know about is dosing Stability 12 hours after using a mediation that harms your beneficial bacteria. "Use of Stability is also suggested 12 hours after each use of many medications such as Erythromycin that can harm your bio filter"www.americanaquariumproducts.com/seachem.html#stability
