Does anybody have a good resource on the number of inverts it's safe to keep per gallon along with fish.
In my case I have two bamboo shrimp, but I've read a few places where you need at least three or four.
I don't want to get into a deep discussion about the specifics of my tank population and its set up. I was just wondering if anybody could flag some online of hard copy resources so I and others reading this can sort this on our own.
Thanks for reading.

The biggest thing with bamboo shrimp is making sure they have enough to eat. They eat tiny organisms that they filter out of the water. So if you're going to keep more than one or two, you need to have a very well established tank, preferably with live plants and such.

Here is a quote from Freshwater Aquarium Basics: "Body mass per inch/centimeter. The actual weight of a fish has more bearing on the aquariums capacity than the length. Many high capacity bio-filters such as the TMC Fluidized Sand Filter actually are rated by weight of the bio load with the #1500 model rated for 30 lbs. of fish or other inhabitants. For instance, you cannot compare a heavy bodied cichlid for instance to a narrow bodied tetra of similar length. AS well a tiny Bamboo Shrimp with very little weight is going to have very minimal impact on the bio load and thus the capcity of the aquarium."Carl

I've never had bamboo shrimp, so I say this "tongue in cheek"...I have never had shrimp put much of a bio-load on my tanks...now saying this, I have Red Cherry Shrimp. Shrimp are very susceptible to their environment, so they MUST have enough to eat, and Bamboo are filter feeders. I wouldn't go out and buy 3 shrimp and just dump them in though...I would add them slowly like you would any new load on a tank, and I wouldn't over stock the tank...meaning if the tank is stocked with fish to opacity, I wouldn't add more shrimp.
