Nice picture Lori.
Could you educate me (& maybe others) in what determines the "quality" of a Betta using yours as an example?
Obviously I have my opinions, but these opinions are meaningless when it comes to showing Bettas in these different classes

Sure By IBC standards (not quoting), the fish needs to have over all balance (Big Blue). In the class these 2 were shown in (Butterfly pattern: Fish must have 1/3 of the fins with the white edging) (Lace/BF: Lace is a lighter black edging on a dark fish or black edging on a light fish). Big Blue doesn't have enough edging, but places above Little Man for over all balance. Little Man has a better pattern but he has not developed the over all balance (BB is 2 weeks older then LM). For females it is different though. My girls lost out because of over all coloring. They are Royal/Steel/Baby Blue, but they would not color up so their color wasn't all over their body. I'll see if I can get a good pix of the girl that made it to the top 4 in her class. I'll start posting where the Betta Show's will be. If anyone gets a chance to go, it is an awesome site! Next weekend (12th), it will be in/near San Fransisco, CA. September 15, either my group, or the other Texas group will be hosting a show in Arlington, Texas.

Thanks Lori!
Looking at the two fish as a comparison, I think I at least understand some basics.

Very handsome! I'd love to go check out one of those shows if they have one near me sometime. I think it'd be really cool to see all those beautiful fish in person!

First show that I know of is in Texas (my group, my old group and Oklahoma group) are putting on one IF Big Blue survives spawning with no damage, then he will be shown again next year
