Hi guys!! Havnt been on for a while. Anyway just poping in because im kinda slumping with my tanks. Since I had to move them half a state just over aonth ago im finding my self a little bored with them. Im looking at getting more live plants and varieties but also at shaking up my stocking. I have four tanks. Two ten gallons a one hundred and a seventy. Go my skills for gallons even though im aussie. Anyhoo... In my tens I have fighters, one male each so they are fine, four and two yrs old and still going. My seventy has three angels, nine rummynoses, one clown loach I nwver see, six black neons, a random guppy female, the odd snail and bn catfish baby, seven cory cats and a lot of anubius and java fern. The one hundred has two acaras one firemouth six rosy barbs one red tail shark two bn catfish adults and loads of babies, tje odd snail and heaps od rocks, no live planta yet.
Id load up vids but only have mobile access to net atm. This has taken ahes to wrote lol. So based on this list how can I approve and once again be happy with my tanks.....

I have to second the live plants idea, it's taken my love for the hobby to a completely new level. The plants you do have grow very slowly. You might try something in the aponogeton family (ie. madagascar lace) since they grow quite quickly.
You should also look at ludwigia and crypts since they have varieties that are red in color which will contrast nicely with the greens of the javas and anubias...

I know the feeling, DAngel! I have been in the mood to shake things up too, I just can't decide how. I bought some harlequin rasboras to add to my 50 gal, but it didn't go well.
Plants are a good idea though. They can be challenging, but also a lot of fun to experiment with. I think I've spent more money on trying different plants out than I've spent on fish. I agree with Parker002. Crypts are great plants. Most don't require much maintenance once they get established, and there are so many to choose from.

So I got some plants and all looks sweet in the 70. In the 100 I have two acaras and a foremouth. Am thinking of adding live plants but also want to stock some more fish. What goes with fm and acaras?

Although these fish come from waters with a lot of plants, they also often dig and can destroy plants with delicate roots or non at all.
I would consider Java Fern, Hornwort, maybe anubias or Sagittaria (in a pot) Others may have further suggestions
Admittedly I have mostly kept "fake" plants with Blue Acara & Firemouth cichlids due to their digging.

Your tanks look really nice (especially your heavily planted 70)
As for fish tank mates for your Acara & Firemoth, here are a few thoughts:
*Silver Dollars *Tinfoil Barbs *Pictus Catfish *Pangansius Catfish *Salvini Cichlid *Uaru Cichlid *Festivum Cichlids *Severums

Very nice setup. I love the organization of the plants and the color they add to the tank too. I like the striped fish (cichlid?) a lot. Very beautiful coloration. What species is it?

After checking conversion rates (Australia to US $), this seems a bit pricey ($31 & $189 usd); however often prices are based on what the market costs are in a region and includes the cost of obtaining these fish (shipping, etc.), so maybe this is the best you can do?
