My daughter has had 3 since around Christmas in her 14G tank and they're doing awesome.
So I bought 5 last Thursday. Overnight they removed all of the algae spots from the front glass!
They're looking great. I really think they weren't getting enough to it when I had them last - my tank is much more "natural" now including having plenty of black beard algae for them to eat on the swords and anubias.

I am glad to hear they are doing well. I know you take very good care of your tanks and are more experienced now so (at least in my opinion), they are much more likely to do better this time. Keep us posted! Sounds like the otos are hard at work!

Other than the plants, I also have the Mopani wood in my tank now.
My daughter's 3 spend alot of time on the wood and when I looked this morning, 4 of my 5 (one was on the front glass) were on my Mopani.
So I think that might be a key difference too.

Nice! Glad they are doing well. I tried keeping them about 3 years ago. I had terrible luck. Someday I'll have to give them another try.

I wish you well with your Otos. I think since your daughter has done well, we can have optimism for yours as well. Babygeige; I do not know anyone who has kept Oto Catfish for years that has not had Oto Catfish die off for no apparent reason at some time (myself included). Carl

I have been watching mine closely - all 5 of them spend more than 90% of their time on either a plant leaf or the wood. I really think that's the key.
