Hi all. Very pleased to announce my Red Cherry Shrimp are happy enough to be reproducing. I discovered this by noticing a lot of shrimp fry in my "change out" water. Does anyone know of a way to collect these little guys n return 'em to the tank so I kill 'em with the water disposal?

When I have changed water with fry of any kind, I ran the siphon through a very fine and large Brine Shrimp net, this net would capture all the fry that were accidentally "sucked up". The only down side was all the other debris that also would not pass through this fine net that I had to gently look through to find any fry Carl

I 2nd Carl's suggestion. What about adding a pre-filter? Or wrapping the intake with an old green net? (all my old ones are green ). I did that...carefully took a large rusted (handle) net. Cut the net off and used fishing line to secure it to the intake. That allows some particles to get through but not the shrimp fry.

I don`t really do anything and i have a million lil mysis shrimp that survived the being frozen. they get sucked into the filter and eventually get expelled back into the tank. with this method of laziness i still have a good population of fish snacks...

I have a sponge pre-filter on my shrimp tank. And when I vacuum the tank, I keep the hose lightly kinked so the waste/water goes up slowly enough that I can sort of keep an eye on what's going up the siphon tube. If I see any babies, I stop the flow completely and the babies find their way out.
If any get past me and end up in the bucket, it usually hasn't hurt them, so I just scoop them in a net and back into the tank.
