Make your own mop for spawning killiefish (either with yarn or Java Moss)
What you will need for the yarn option:
How to do it:
1-
wind your yarn around the book, make all together 20 loops
2-
take a 5 inch piece of yarn, put it under the winding of one of the edges and knot it tightly around the bundle
3-
cut the bundle from the other edge of the book
4-
now you can tie the ends of the knotted yarn around a cork for floating purposes
or
just leave it the way it's, and when you put it into the tank, it will sink to the bottom
5-
Don't forget to wash the mop with plain hot water before you put it into your spawning tank or you can even cook it in plain water

What will you need for the Java moss option:
This option is for Killie's which are hard to spawn with the other mop like Aphyosemions or Epiplatys
How to do it:
Also with that option you save time on searching for eggs, because you can take the moss just as it is for incubation and hatching (more about that in the killifish breeding article >> article will come later)
What you will need for the yarn option:
- brown or dark green yarn that is colorfast (no fancy yarn, or it will rot in your tank, preferably Nylon or Acrylic Yarn)
- Scissors
- a book that is 8-9 inch in hight
- and a piece of cork if you want to have a floating mop (which increases the eggs you're able to collect)

What will you need for the Java moss option:
This option is for Killie's which are hard to spawn with the other mop like Aphyosemions or Epiplatys
- a hand full of Java moss
- a piece of twine
How to do it:
- All you really need to do, is tie the piece of twine in the middle of the Java moss piece
- That way you have a nice mop which has loose ends on both sides and a tight center, and the killis can choose where to place their eggs
Also with that option you save time on searching for eggs, because you can take the moss just as it is for incubation and hatching (more about that in the killifish breeding article >> article will come later)
