Guess what, it will be washing up on our shores in the Florida panhandle tomorrow. World's whitest beaches no more.

Ugh, that whole thing just makes me sick. Did you hear the CEO of BP whining about how he wants this taken care of quickly too so he can "have his life back?" Yeah, jerk, so you can go back to your mansion on the golf course and rake in the billions of dollars and use broken equipment on the rest of your oil rigs so you can buy another fancy car.

yeah...I think this hasnt been brought up in this forum because there really isnt too much to say. The big SOB`s running BP should be held accountable for every dead animal that is found. this will take Mother Earth a long time to recover from, if ever!!!

I know. I HATE the BP owners. If I ever buy oil or gasoline, it WILL NOT be from then. Don't care if my car runs out of gas, would rather that happen than buy from such a horrible company.
I watched the video that was in that article. It made me very upset. It was incredibly heartbreaking.
I really hope this tragic event turns some good things up, like maybe people will not push to drill in Alaska and other places will not drill either. And people will finally start working hard on electric or non-fuel powered cars.
I honestly have no idea how many animals have been killed. But I take it this event will put animals on the endangered species list and even cause the extinction of some already endangered. Not to mention, ruin a lot of beaches that will take ages to recover.

We actully havnt heard to much on it here, its like they mentioned it but after a week the media was 'over' it. It personally breaks my heart to see that link, i really think humans are the worst thing this planet supports. Why has this been brushed under the rug in Australia?? The only mention ive heard in weeks is on facebook games (that are largely US run and created, things like halloween etc etc are supported along with this disaster). I refuse to fuel up a BP to!!!

i really think humans are the worst thing this planet supports. Not too get too political here, but I do have to take exception here and also state that this is a very complicated issues which the media here has not reported very accurately. While I am not supporting BP (in particular their arrogance to this issue, there were many offers from the Netherlands and elsewhere to immediately run cleanup equipment that was turned down by the Federal Government in the early days of this disaster (this occurred in waters under Federal jurisdiction, not state). It is also noteworthy that government rules were followed early on and government projections were incorrect. As well our Federal government has spread the pain around by a knee jerk reaction to shut everything down, further hurting local economies (despite please by state governors pleas not too). This would be the same as grounding all aircraft after a crash of an airplane, and I can say as a pilot that we have learned from most every crash and the skies, planes and pilots are safer because of this. While it is sad for the wildlife, there are many good people helping to remedy this, as well humans have also done much for other wildlife often when the issue was man caused. Here is an example of where persons saved orphaned Cheetahs including after an attack to the point of death were it not for human interaction: The Cheetah OrphansHowever the human toll in fishing, shrimping, tourism is also very sad. These are all individual persons with hopes and dreams that now have lost their source of income, then to add insult to injury more persons are put out of work by improper actions by the Federal government. Also keep in mind that that while it is easy to "hate" BP (& maybe rightfully so as to the corporate heads) there are many retired persons what have their pensions tied to BP (especially in the UK) that have lost most of their retirement do to this disaster and amplified by the actions of BP’s corporate heads and inappropriate actions by our US Federal government leader which include constant attacks on BP as a company rather than working to solve this problem in constructive ways (the British government is quite displeased with our governments reactions toward this disaster, and rightfully so IMO). Again I will add the air crash analogy; due you think American Airlines (as an example of an airline company) wants its airplanes to crash? While their may be corporate heads, lazy or dishonest employees and poor regulations that contribute to an airplane crash, these are the issues that need to be addressed (which may include fines or even criminal charges), not the airline as an entity.
