I just can't contain myself anymore...On wednesday I will be getting my most prized fish. This is a fish that I thought would only ever be a dream but is becoming reality. It was my "holy grail" fish. I am getting some Prognathochromis Perrieri!!! These are a Lake Victoria fish that are extinct in the wild. These are very hard to find!!!

Brenda, my "Kenya Golds" were really small when I got them, too. I think you remember that I was concerned about their survival. 1/2 inch is fairly hardy for a Vic..and you take excellent care of your tanks.
If I had any advice, it would be to run the tank just a little warmer than you normally would (instead of 78, 80 or so), do extra water changes, and feed an extra time a day. I'm still working on getting my "Blue Tipped" grown up, but that seems to work for me. They will grow faster than you expect.

Looks good Brenda though you really can't make out much on detail at current time. I'm sure it will prove more useful to see them as they progress too. After I've studied Barb's CARES listing a little deeper, I didn't have a full realization of just how many listed species I really do have. I've begun my project of Malawi weeding now, listed a few here and there, some Pet store trades are going to be done as well. Within a week or so, I should be well into a position to start having the capability to get something like what you have now. I'll probably end most all Mbuna breeding operations in short order, and work on using the 100 gallon as an extension tank for Vics, hoping to get a rare catch like yours.
It will be great to see you show them more from the basic silver look they have now, as they gain in size and colorings to see how this species progresses in growth and the times of development.

Trying to add something constructive here Brenda, as you'd mentioned about registering them. How exactly does a person with listed species such as we have go about registering them? What exactly does that do?
Being they are very difficult to even find, how did you come across being able to acquire them? Since these are really rare and probably endangered I figured it might be worthwhile to discuss the species more in depth since this does more for your thread. I figure that you always have great fish so for myself, no need to say looks great happy for you because I figure that's just a given with us LOL. Is there any information you researched about the species you can share with us?
