Petco released its reindition of their King Betta. This "Giant Betta" sells at most locations for 14.99 + tax, and can be found in petcos expanded betta selection. I did buy one to see for myself and basically it is just like any other betta. While locations can vary i believe that these are not true "Giant" bettas but rather large plakats. My King is about 3.5 inches long but to be considered a true Giant, a betta should be around 5-6 inches long. Though my betta has been loosing condition before i was able to spawn him, I would imagine that the genetics would not produce a clutch of true giant bettas.
They make excellent pets and would be best in at least 10 gallons, but worth 14.99? that is the question you must ask before getting one. While it was exciting to see at any petstore, i do admit i was rather disapointed by the fact that i still havent been able to purchase my first true "Giant" 6 inch betta.

to me....even a 3" betta would be a site to behold. never even heard of a king betta. if i can find one here,i`ll try one. is it a true betta? or just a species that carries a resemblence like a marine betta does???

good question, but king bettas are betta splendens. You should be able to find them at all petco location, yes a 3 inch betta is large compared to traditional LFS bettas, but still giants are really 5-6 inches long.

Ooh, that sounds like fun, but you're right. not sure if I'd spend $15 on one. I never heard of it either. I may go check it out just out of curiosity. I didn't know they came in mini versions either. Very interesting!
