I agree! As I know kagome could attest to, Rainbows are beautiful and active fish, with many "new" rainbows available today that were not some years back. Carl No kidding. So far in my area here I've found 4 or 5 places selling rainbows and all combined I could get: Boesmani Australian Ornate New Guinea Dwarf Threadfin (these are super tiny and not really under consideration for me) That's a pretty good selection!

That's really great news parker002!! That's going to be so cool to fill with rainbows.
What will you do with the oscar?
Threadfin rainbows are on my list to get for my 30 gallon someday. I think they're so pretty, and if they're anything like their celebes relatives, should be a nice lively addition.
You're going to have a great time with that 90!

I will probably just wait to take the tank until the oscar expires. He's quite old so it probably won't be long.

Just spotted this thread today.....
Boesemani Rainbows are my favorites, too, Carl. Maybe because they were my first rainbows? I adopted the remaining two that my son had in June 2006. I will always have a few male Boesemani in my 75 gallon. I will soon have a female (right now, she is too small to move). She is only about 2 inches right now - but is the prettiest female I have ever seen. She loves hanging with the Pygmy Rainbows in the 20 gallon high for now. I often start out rainbows in the 20 gallon until they are big enough to move.
I have tried New Guinea... but my water is too soft for them.... Maybe if I had Wonder Shells sooner, I could have saved the last one I bought? Lesson learned. I still won't buy more.....it is just too sad to lose such a beautiful fish. I did notice other males at the same pet store with Columnaris, so I don't blame myself. The fish get too stressed by being on the shipping truck too long - in bags that are too small (low oxygen). I found another store in the chain that gets their fish sooner (first stop) so I will drive there to get rainbows in the future. I have to drive 45 minutes to an hour either way to buy fish.
Cheers,
Judy D.
