I just posted some pics of this fish and I hope you can finally see what he looks like. He is a very skittish fish and has damaged his face many times hitting the glass when I have frightened him. He is in fact, in a 75 gallon tank. Everything that everyone is saying above is true and I enjoyed reading everyone's opinion. I posted the pics in members pics.

this is to Murdock. the aquarium is a 75 gallon one. Please read the post I just sent to everyone who got into the subject of this fish. I am for sure giving him to Big Al's Aquarium Store in Newmarket as I know in my heart that this tank is far too small for him. A beautiful silver and black cat fish was sick last night and it was dead this morning. I don't know what to do about this, as this is the third fish to die in a couple of weeks. It had what looks like blood in his tail. He was swimming on his side last evening. I sent a picture of him also. I should get the aquarium water checked by Big Al's I believe. What do you suggest? Clorey

have you checked your tank parameters? ph, nitrates, nitrites etc.? I posted a picture if your ID shark for you on your original thread - invest in a test kit - as far as losing your fish I don't have a clue except that the blood thing has me woried about your oxygen levels - any input here from someone smarter me (not saying much) on this matter? help - this fish dying thing has to stop!

Murdock, I don't have a new test kit so I better invest in one right away. I have a good Ehiem filter, plus I use a 48" long blue bubble maker. Do you really think that maybe the oxygen level is too low? I have an old (2 yrs) ph test kit and I used it this morning and it shows that the water is very acidic. Would it still be good after 2 years? The water in the vial turned yellow after I added the drops.

get yourself a new test kid and enjoy peace of mind - it may help you to find the answers you need to help your fish - checking water parameters is a must, especially when overstocking! not being critical here, but I think the size of your fish in the tanks you have may be leading to an imbalance in your system, including the algae problem.....it's not a cheap fix but a necessary one in my opinion - hard to part w/ fish that have been w/ you for a long time....did you see I got your ID shark pic to post for you? hope all is well dear - good luck! John

Yes the test kits sure saved me a lot of grey hairs and running back and forth to the store.

What fish do you have stocked in your tank and how many? That can also help us try to figure out what is going on. Also as stated water parameters...
Ammonia Nitrites Nitrates Ph
We '' get it figured out hopefully sooner rather then later. There are a lot of VERY knowledgable people here to help.

they have all raised great points....but the bleeding tail thing is something completely different.this is i am sure exactly what it looks like, an injury. In looking after tanks i saw this often in tin foil barbs and occasionally other skiddesh fish. they get spooked so badly they dart and hit stuff. with a lil luck it is damage on the skin....worse case sceenario is internal bleeding...hemmoraging. a pic would be very helpful....

Bill's right on this one. When I had a pair of 8 inches in the 75, they'd spook and dart all over the tank if you just turned the lights on. The injury is like 90% has to be done to itself. That's a VERY large fish in there too. Do take caution and care trying to net that fish out to find a new home. If that store that sold you that fish is worth anything at all, they'll come by and pick it up themselves. They should have never sold you that fish in the first place.

Hi Murdock, thanks for your replies. I have not seen the pic of my ID shark. Which forum is it in? I put so many questions all over the place when I first started and now am very confused about everything. Murdock, I am 67, hence the name Clorey67 and I have had fish for years, but have never had to give away a fish because it got too big for the tank. I appreciate all the kind words from you and everyone else. Please tell me how to find the shark picture and thank you so much.
